Measuring guide
Ready-made only works if the size is right. Grab a steel tape (not a fabric one), a pencil and five minutes.
Measuring for blinds
1. Decide recess or face fit
Recess fit sits the blind inside the window opening for a neat, flush look. Face fit mounts it on the wall above the window and gives better light blockout at the edges.
2. Measure the width in three places
Measure the top, middle and bottom of the opening. For recess fit use the smallest measurement and deduct 10mm. For face fit add 60–80mm to each side.
3. Measure the drop
Recess fit: measure from the top of the opening to the sill. Face fit: measure from where the bracket will sit to 50–100mm below the sill.
4. Round down to the nearest ready-made size
Our ready-made widths step in 30cm increments. Always choose the size at or below your measurement — never above.

How much curtain fabric do I need?
Work out your fullness
For a gathered look, multiply your track width by 2 to 2.5. A 2m track with 2.2x fullness needs 4.4m of finished curtain width.
Check the fabric width
Railroaded blockout fabrics are 280cm wide, so a standard 220cm drop runs across the roll and one metre of fabric covers one metre of window.
Add hems and headings
Allow 25cm per drop for the top heading and bottom hem, plus 10cm for pattern matching on printed fabrics.
Order a swatch first
Colours shift under Australian light. Order free swatches and hold them against your wall at different times of day before committing.
